Memorial Day Weekend
The Johnson family had a great Memorial Day weekend. We spent Saturday and Sunday down at Sun Valley Lake with Brian, Tricia and the kids. The weather could have been a little better, but we made the best of it. Jack really enjoyed playing on the new beach and making sand castles. Brian was able to get the boats in the water, but we will have to wait until our next trip down for a boat ride. On Monday afternoon, we invited a few friends over to swim and grill out. We enjoy watching Jack play in the pool. He is already having so much fun in the water. We call him our little fish!

Tulip Time
The Johnson Family headed to Pella again this year for Tulip Time. Jack and Katy were all dressed up in their dutch costumes so Grandma and Grandpa could walk with them in the baby parade. Jack enjoyed watching all the floats and tractors in the parade. He especially loved Pella Corporation's Thomas the Train float. He also had fun running around and looking at all the different tulips. We all had to take turns chasing after him....he is hard to keep up with!
I also participated in the parade this year as part of the alumni color guard. It was a special, surprise tribute to our high school color guard director, Dick Redman, who is retiring after 3o years. An overwhelming total of 150 alumni showed up for the event. We learned a quick routine on Saturday morning and then marched behind the high school band for the Saturday afternoon parade. I had a lot of fun spinning my rifle again and it brought back a lot of great memories from my high school days!

Baby Shower for Sprout
My good friend, Steph, is due to have a baby boy in September, and Steph's mom and sister threw a surprise baby shower for her in Pella this morning. Everyone had a great time catching up with friends and enjoying great food (courtesy of Steph's mom who is amazing in the kitchen!) Steph and Chris received a lot of great gifts for Baby Sprout (as Steph has affectionately named him) and I think it made them even more excited for his arrival in September.

Another Johnson cousin!
Jacob Robert was born on April 30, 2011. He was a big boy, weighing in at 8lbs 15 oz. Katy is 4 weeks older than Jacob, but he is already getting close to passing her in weight! We are looking forward to watching the two of them grow up together.

1 month old!
Our little Katy Mae is one month old today! Our first month with her was great. She is a very sweet baby! She spends most of her days sleeping, which is okay with me because I spend most of my days chasing Jack around the house! When I am not chasing Jack around, I am usually holding and cuddling Katy. She is a very good little cuddler! She is sleeping pretty good at night too. I am usually up with her about two times each night, but only for about 20 minutes each time. I have gotten into the bad habit of letting her fall asleep with me in bed (which is driving Jay nuts). I know that is a habit I need to break sooner than later! Jack seems to enjoy his baby sister. He likes touching her nose and hands and occasionally he asks to hold her. We are slowly adjusting to life with two kids and doing our best to take in each moment, because we know they will grow up fast!
