Jack celebrated his birthday today with a special Lego birthday party with all his friends. For two hours, our house was taken over by 6 energetic little boys! They all had so much fun playing with Legos, bouncing in the bounce house, and running around outside. Surprisingly, we made it through the evening without any blood or tears and everyone had a great time!

Happy Birthday, Jack!
We had a great time celebrating Jack today. The highlight of Jack's day was lunch with Mommy and Daddy at Zombie Burger, his favorite place to eat! He also enjoyed his trip to the Dollar Store to pick out 5 toys. (He was even sweet enough to buy Katy a new toy too!) Our day ended with opening presents at home and Jack was elated to finally have a superman shirt with a cape. Happy 5th Birthday, Jack! We love you so much!
5 years old!
Our little monkey is 5 years old! Jack is still our energetic boy who is always on the go. He is growing up so much and its fun to see him transform into a sweet and spirited little boy!
Here are a few highlights of Jack at the age of 5:
- Jack is obsessed with superheroes! He is always pretending he is a superhero fighting the bad guys. He also loves to dress up in his superhero costume and masks. Swords and guns are also part of his superhero play, much to my dismay.
- He is a very good big brother...most of the time! He is Katy's best friend and does a good job of including her in his imaginative play. He is also great with Drew, which is evidenced by Drew's huge smile and laughter whenever Jack walks into the room.
- Jack is in love with Legos. He was so excited to have his "small Lego" birthday party with his friends this year. No more Lego Duplos for him....he has moved on to the real thing and tells us this all the time! He could spend hours playing and building with his Legos, which is fun to observe.
- He has become quite a big eater lately. He cleans his plate at most every meal and is always asking for snacks in between. It is obvious he is a growing boy! Although this is not reflected on the scale. He is still a little peanut, weighing the exact same as Katy, who is two years younger than him. He brings up the rear on the growth charts coming in at the 2nd and 5th percentile for weight and height, respectively.
- Jack still loves music and loves to sing. I am always amazed at how quickly he learns the words. He knows most of the lyrics to the songs from our vacation bible school CD and loves to sing his songs from preschool. He also loves the song "Cruise" by Florida Georgia Line.
- Jack is finishing up his second year at Walnut Hills Preschool and is looking forward to starting at a new school this fall. School is not always his favorite, as he would prefer to stay home and play most days....hopefully this changes soon as he still has many years of school ahead of him!

Happy Birthday, Drew!
Today we celebrated Drew's birthday! It was a pretty low-key day as I spent the morning with Jack at his preschool and then Drew spent the afternoon sleeping! But we were able to celebrate a little this evening and we all had a good time. Drew enjoyed opening his presents and getting lots of attention from the family. I still cannot believe my baby is 1 year old!!
1 year old!
My baby is 1 year old! How is that possible? Drew continues to be such a joy in our lives. He is always so happy and content and is constantly putting a smile on our faces. Here are a few highlights of him at 12 months:
- He is walking now and does a pretty good job; however, he still prefers to crawl. He is very cautious in all he does!
- Drew loves to open drawers and cupboards (reminds me a lot of Jack at the same age!)
- He loves to climb the stairs and he laughs and giggles the entire way up! I was ready to teach him how to climb down the stairs backwards, when he showed me he already knew how. I am not use to having such a cautious child!
- Drew loves his big sister and brother. He is always looking for them and wants to be wherever they are. It is so much fun to see his face light up when they walk into the room!
- Drew loves to eat! He will eat most anything we put in front of him. He still loves his bananas and blueberries, but we have recently discovered how much he loves to eat meat. He will inhale any meat we put in front of him....chicken, steak, hamburgers, hotdogs....he loves it all!
- At his 1 year check-up he weighed 20lbs 14oz and was 31.5 inches long...he is a happy, healthy and growing little boy!

Happy Easter
Happy Easter to all our family and friends! The Johnson family celebrated Easter this year with a wonderful church service at Hope and then headed to Pella to spend the afternoon with my family. Our Easter dinner was fantastic, as usual, and we were all so happy to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather. If only every day could be this perfect!

Dr. Seuss Birthday Party
Our little "things" turned 5, 3 and 1 this month and we all had a great time celebrating their birthdays with a Dr. Seuss birthday party. Jack, Katy and Drew had fun dressing up as "Thing 1, 2 and 3" for their party. They also had a blast playing with all their cousins and opening lots of great gifts. We were all excited to watch Drew eat his first cupcake...he was ready to dive right in and help himself! And it was obvious he liked it because he ate the entire thing!! At the end of the day, all 5 of us were exhausted, but it was all worth it for the time spent with family and the wonderful memories made!
