Pirate and Princess Birthday Party

We celebrated the kids birthdays today with a Pirate and Princess birthday party!  I still cannot believe they are already 6, 4, and 2 years old!  We had a great time celebrating with our family and friends.  The kids loved all their presents, eating cupcakes and playing with their cousins.  What a fun day!

6 years old!

Jack is 6 years old today!!  He is has grown so much in the last year, but is still the same spunky little boy that always keeps us on our toes!

Here are a few highlights of Jack at 6 years:

• He loves ninjas and warriors, and fighting off the bad guys.  He loves to "battle" with his friends. :)
• Jack spends hours at his Lego table building and creating.  He is a creative little boy!
• He loves playing on his iPad.  His favorite games are Angry Birds, Candy Crush, and Legos.
• He spent the last year at the Optional Kindergarten program in Grimes and is looking forward to full-day kindergarten next year.  He is doing so well at school and we are very proud of him.  He is not reading yet, but getting close. I love seeing him learn new things every day!
• He is pretty small for his age and because he doesn't have any fat on him, he is cold most of the time.  This results in him wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants every day....even if its 80 degrees outside! Ugh! And usually, he wants to wear the same sweatpants and sweatshirt every day.  I have to hide his favorite clothes from him just so I can get them in the wash!
• His favorite foods are bread, crackers, cheerios, and apples.  He loves carbs!
• His favorite TV show is Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (see first bullet point!)
• At his 6 year check-up, he weighed 36 pounds and was 42.25 inches tall, which puts him in the 3rd and 5th percentile, respectively.  He is a little guy!

2 years old!

Our baby is 2 years old today!!  He is a sweet, yet ornery little guy and is always keeping us on our toes.  The whole family just adores him and we always find ourselves laughing at his silliness!

Here are a few highlights of Drew at 2 years:

• He is still obsessed with balls and loves playing outside.  
• His favorite thing to do is giving "knuckles" (aka fist bump)....and he is usually sticking his hand out to complete strangers!
• Some of his favorite phrases are "I did it!" and "No, thank you."  He also loves to tell us "bye-bye" when we lay him down at bedtime.
• Drew is still in love with his tag blankies and sucking his thumb.  
• He loves playing with sidewalk chalk and pens...we can always tell where he has been because he leaves a trail....usually on things he not supposed to be drawing on! :(  He is quite the little artist!
• His favorite foods are yogurt, eggs, crackers, blueberries and kiwi.  He is a very good little eater!
• His favorite TV show is Dora the Explorer and Curious George.  He gets SO excited when he sees Dora on TV!
• At his 2 year check-up, he weighed 26 pounds and was 34.25 inches tall, which puts him in the 26th and 55th percentile, respectively.

4 years old!

Our little princess is 4 years old!!  It just doesn't seem possible!  She is still just as sweet as ever, but she has definitely shown us her sassy side this year :)

Here are a few highlights of Katy Mae at 4 years old:

• She loves dressing up in her princess dresses....and this girl loves to accessorize!
• Katy loves playing with her Polly Pockets and Barbie dolls.  She will spend hours at a time with them.
• Her favorite phrase is "piddle please" (translation: pretty please).  She usually says this while batting her eyes with a big smile on her face so she can get what she wants....and usually it works!  We are in trouble!
• Katy hates wearing underwear (she must get that from her Dad :)  It has gotten to the point now that she will lie when asked about it, because she knows if she admits to us that she is not wearing underwear, we will make her put them on.  "It just feels so much better without them, Mom" :)
• She loves to be in the water and has become quite a good little swimmer!  
• Her favorite TV shows/movies are Sophia the First and Tinkerbell and her favorite books are Brave and Frozen.
• At her 4 year check-up she weighed 36 pounds and was 40 inches tall, which puts her in the 59th and 55th percentile, respectively.
