4 months

Jack is 4 months old today!! He has been changing and growing up so much in the past month. He is a very happy baby and he loves to smile. He has also become a little chatter-box....always telling us stories with his serious face. His favorite toy this month is the exersaucer...mostly because he still loves to stand! And just in the past few days he has learned how to roll over!

Iowa State Fair!

Last Thursday, the Johnson family (and a few friends) went to the Iowa State Fair. As you can tell from the pictures, we all had a great time! Jack was such a trooper....I don't think he cried until the very end of the day when we were loading him up in the car. (Maybe he enjoyed the fair so much he was sad to be leaving!) Katy and I managed to eat more than our share of all the wonderful food the fair has to offer. Unfortunately for Jack, he will have to wait another year or two to experience that aspect of the fair!

Swimming

The entire McCulla family spent the past weekend in Grinnell while celebrating my grandparents 60th wedding anniversary. We decided to take Jack swimming for the first time in the hotel pool. He seemed to enjoy the water for the most part....he probably thought it was like a giant bathtub! He just laid back and relaxed in his baby float...similar to the way he relaxes in his bathtub at home. Jay was excited to get him in the pool....I think he is hoping for a future swimmer to carry on the Johnson legacy!

3 months old!

Its hard to believe our little monkey is 3 months old already! He is growing up so fast! We have noticed a lot of changes in him over the past month. He is more aware of his surroundings and he loves to smile at familiar faces. He also loves standing up....with a little help, of course!

Next week would be my first week back to work. However, instead of returning to work, I will be turning in my computer and pursuing my new career as a stay-at-home mom. I know this will be a big change in my life, but one that I am looking forward to!

Happy 4th of July!

The Johnson's had a busy (and fun) 4th of July weekend! We headed to Coralville Lake on Saturday morning for a day of boating. Unfortunately due to bad weather, we spent the majority of the day inside playing cards and other games. By Saturday evening the rain had stopped so Jay and the other boys were able to take the jetski out for a few hours. We woke up early on Sunday morning for a boat ride. The weather on Sunday morning was beautiful...warm and sunny (the weather we were hoping for on Saturday!) Jack seemed to have a great time on the boat. When the boat was moving, Jack was usually sleeping (I think the noise and vibrations had something to do with it)...but as soon as the boat stopped, he would wake up and was full of smiles!

After our boat ride on Sunday morning, we packed up and headed to Williamsburg for the Healey Family Reunion. Jay and I played a round of golf while Grandpa McCulla spent some quality time with Jack and Avree.

2 months old!

Our little guy is two months old already.....my how time flies!! We had our two month check up on Monday and I am happy to report he is doing great! This was also the first round of his vaccination shots....I am not sure who disliked them more, Jack or his Mom and Dad!

Bumbo chair

We decided to let Jack try out his bumbo chair for the first time this morning. At first he was not quite sure what to think, but as you can tell from the pictures below, he ended up having a lot of fun!
