Mommy or Daddy?

I thought it would be fun to pull out old baby pictures of Jay and I. The pictures below are all of us at relatively the same age. I am curious to see who everyone thinks Jack and Katy look like. Please cast your vote on the poll in the right column of the blog!

Kate's first swedish pancakes!

Kate had her first swedish pancakes tonight! Swedish pancakes are a Johnson family tradition passed down from Great-Grandma Johnson. Swedish pancakes are a thin, sweet pancake (think crepe) and they are oh-so good! As Great-Grandma has gotten older, Jay and I have assumed responsibility for making swedish pancakes for the family. I don't think our pancakes are quite as good as Great-Grandma's, but we are trying! I am happy that Great-Grandma was there to witness Kate'e first swedish pancake, which she loved! This is a tradition I hope the Johnson family will contine for many more years!

Nolan Michael

My good friend, Katy, had her baby last night! His name is Nolan Michael and he weighed 7 pounds, 7 ounces and was 20 inches long, with a full head of dark hair! I drove to Burlington this afternoon to meet him. He is absolutely adorable. I can already tell he is going to be a good-natured baby! Congratulations Katy and Corey!

9 months old!

Kate is 9 months old! She continues to be such a joy in our lives. She is very active now and is no longer content just to sit. She is always on the move! She is crawling everywhere and I cannot help but think how Jack was walking at this age. I am very thankful it will still be a few more months before Kate is walking. I am not sure I am ready for that! Her favorite things these days are watching big brother, crawling, waving, smiling, eating cheerios, and shaking her head "no." At her 9 month doctor check-up she weighed just under 22 pounds and was 29 inches long. She is still in the 90th percentile for both height and weight!

Christmas morning!

Jay and I were especially excited about Christmas morning this year as Jack is starting to understand the concept of Santa and presents. Jack had so much fun unwrapping and playing with all his toys. The big gift for the kids this year was a new play kitchen, which Jack was very excited about. The rest of Jack's gifts revolved around Toy Story, dinosaurs, and trucks. Kate didn't care too much about her presents, but she was full of smiles watching Jack run around and play with his new toys all morning!
Jack had a hard time when we explained to him that Buddy (his Elf on the Shelf) returned to his home at the North Pole and would not be back until next Christmas. He shed a few tears and then said "bye-bye Buddy....I'm going to miss you!"

Christmas with the Johnson Family

We celebrated Christmas with the Johnson family on Christmas Eve. We had a nice dinner followed by opening presents. It was a noisy, and some what chaotic evening with all the cousins running through Grandma and Grandpa's house and jumping on their beds! The kids haven't yet learned the difference between "inside" and "outside" voices! I think Great-Grandma Johnson was anxious to leave at the end of the night so she could have some peace and quiet time!
