Barnyard Readers - Pigs

The topic for the Barnyard Readers program this week was pigs.  Jack had a lot of fun visiting the 1850 Pioneer Farm to see the baby pigs.  All the kids fed the pigs clovers from the field and had fun watching them gobble them up.  It was an extremely hot day, so we did not last too long.  But I think Jack still had fun!

Barnyard Readers - Chickens

I enrolled Jack in the Barnyard Readers program at Living History Farms.  The topic for this session was chickens.  We started off the morning reading a book about chickens and then took a tractor ride out to the 1900 Farm to see them.  Jack had a blast and especially loved the tractor ride.  He was giggling the entire time!  He also enjoyed watching the chickens, but was hesitant to get too close!

Adventureland

The Johnson Family spent the day at Adventureland, courtesy of an EFCO employee outing.  It had been years since Jay and I were there and we forgot how much fun it was!  Jack had a blast and I think Katy had fun too.  Jack loved all the rides, but his favorites were the airplanes and the log ride.  We even took Katy on the log ride (I know, we will not be winning any parent of the year awards this year!)  Other than getting wet, she didn't seem to mind too much!  We all had so much fun that we didn't leave the park until after 7:00pm.  It was a long day!  As we were pulling out of the parking lot at the end of the day, Jack started to cry and said "Mommy, I want to go back to Adventureland right now!"

Tiny Tots Music

Today was the kids last day of music class.  For the past two years, I have been taking Jack to music at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in WDM.  The kids love singing songs and playing with the different instruments and toys.  The class is led by Miss Deb (Tricia's high school classmate) and she does a wonderful job.  In the past few weeks, Katy has shown a lot of interest in participating with the different songs and activities.  She is acting more and more like a toddler every day!

Blank Park Zoo

Jack, Katy and I visited the zoo today with Grandma, Aunt Steph and the girls.  It was a beautiful day and we all had a great time.  Jack especially loved the monkey's, sea lions, goats, and tigers....basically anything that was not a bird!  Grandma, Jack and Kaiya went in to feed the parakeets and Jack did not have a good experience.  He was terrified and hid behind Grandma the entire time.  Anytime we saw a bird after that, he would say "birds are scary!"
Katy seemed to enjoy her trip to the zoo also.  She loved looking at all the animals and was even more excited when I let her get out of the stroller so she could walk around on her own.  She wanted to do everything the big kids were doing!
After we left the zoo, Jack was very quick to tell us how the monkey's were his favorite animal but he did not like the green birds!
