Happy 1st Birthday, Katy!

We had a great time celebrating Katy's 1st birthday today! I chose to do a lollipop theme for her party (thanks to Katie Coen for the cute idea!)and had so much fun creating "Katy's Sweet Shoppe"! It was a fun evening with lots of candy, cupcakes, food and family. Katy enjoyed her birthday cake and presents, but seemed to have more fun watching all the commotion going on around her. I actually think Jack enjoyed the party even more than Katy because of all the sugar! He was just tall enough to reach the candy jars and would help himself to a fistful of candy every time he walked by. By the end of the party, he had green and blue sugar stains all over his face and shirt! No one kept track of how many trips he made to the candy table, but I am not sure we really want to know the answer!

Fun City

The McCulla-Kniff families drove to Burlington on Friday night for a weekend of family fun at Fun City. The kids had a great time running around together and playing in the water park, while the adults had fun in the casino, arcade, and the go-cart track. There was no shortage of fun things to do at Fun City!

Trip to Phoenix!

The Johnson family returned home yesterday from our Phoenix vacation. We had a great week of relaxation, golf, shopping and swimming. The weather was perfect for the first five days until a big storm went through on Saturday night, and then the temperature was in the low 60's for the remainder of our vacation. It was actually warmer in Iowa during those days!! Despite the change in weather, we all had a great time. We enjoyed the change of scenery and spending time with the grandparents. Jack especially loved Grandpa Johnson's putting green...all he wanted to do the entire week was play golf! I know this made Daddy happy!

The kids loved the pool

First trip to the dentist!

Jack visited the dentist for the first time today! I was a little unsure if he would be able to sit still long enough for the dentist to check out all his teeth, but he did a great job! He had a good time checking out all the dentals tools and he especially loved looking at Dr. Fuller's giant tooth brushing anatomy model and pretending to brush the teeth. All in all, it was a pretty uneventful visit. I was happy Jack behaved so well and happy to find out he doesn't have any cavities!

Saying "ahhhh"

Having a serious conversation about the importance of brushing your teeth :)

He was pretty excited about his new toothbrush!

11 months old!

Kate is 11 months old! She is acting more and more like a toddler with each passing day, which makes me a little sad because I want her to stay my little baby forever! She is still not walking yet, but is very close. We have watched her take up to 10-12 steps, but then decides she is done and plops down on her bottom! Her latest trick is standing up in the middle of the room all by herself. She thinks she is pretty hot stuff when she does this! Her favorite things as of late are making silly faces and showing off her tongue, eating, playing with Jack, and giving kisses. Kate is still a big eater, however we have noticed she is finally starting to trim down and lose some of her rolls. I am guessing she will finally move down the charts at her 1 year doctor check-up. But it is still crazy to think that right now she weighs as much as Jack did at 2 years!
