Tulips....in April!

The kids and I took a trip to Pella today for some pictures with the tulips. The tulips were up early this year because of the nice weather we have had this past month. Unfortunately, that means there probably won't be many tulips left for Tulip Time in May. We had fun dressing Jack and Katy up in their dutch costumes. Of course Jack was more interested in running around and playing with his golf club and golf ball than smiling for the camera!

I loved his red scarf with the red tulips!

Pretty little dutch girl
She fell in the tulips!  We looked away for just a second and then heard a loud crunch as she fell down and broke off several stems!  Ooops!!
We used cookies from Jaarsma's Bakery as a bribe to get him to smile for the camera.  It didn't really work!

Happy Easter...and Happy Birthday

We celebrated Easter in Pella today with my family. The day consisted of a beautiful church service, followed by dinner, an Easter hunt and a birthday celebration for all the March and April birthdays in our family. (Today is also special because it is Jay's 32nd birthday!) And of course, what Easter Sunday is complete without a few baby chicks! Grandma and Grandpa thought it would be fun to bring home a few baby chicks for the grandchildren to play with for the day. The chicks were only about a week old and I have to admit, they were pretty cute! The kids had a lot of fun holding them and watching them run around outside in the yard. Grandma had a farm lined up to take the chicks at the end of the day, but leave it to my husband to decide we needed to take two home with us! So, we now have two baby chicks living in our house. I told Jay they could stay here for a couple of months until they got too big. There is no way I want two full grown chickens running around in my yard! Yuck!

Jack's and his beloved "Boo-Boo"

We thought it would be fun to capture a few pictures of Jack with his special blankie he has affectionately named "Boo-Boo." Jack takes Boo-Boo with him wherever he goes and would be lost without it!

2012 Master's Tournament

Jay, along with his brothers and Dad, had the privilege of attending the Tuesday and Wednesday practice rounds of the 2012 Master's Tournament at the Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia. Jay had the time of his life and was all smiles when he returned home and told me all about the trip. He is definitely a golfer at heart!

1 Year Old!

Katy is 1 year old! My how this year has flown by! She have blessed our lives more than we could have ever imagined. She is such a joy to be around. While she is still not saying many words, she is quite the vocal little girl. She loves to "talk" to anyone who will listen! She is very outgoing and we can already tell she is going to be a people person. Katy is still trying to master walking. She knows how to walk, but usually chooses not to. This is completely opposite from how Jack was at this age. She really loves her big brother and is always trying to play with him. She lights up when he walks into the room! She also lights up when I walk into the room as she is definitely a mama's girl (which I love!) Her other favorite things include: playing with cars, dancing, giving hugs, playing with cups, waving bye-bye, going for stroller rides, eating blueberries and cheerios, and giving lots of kisses. Happy Birthday, Katy Mae! We love you so much!
