Fall program at Jack's preschool

Jack had his fall program today at preschool.  All the kids dressed up as spiders and sang songs for the parents and grand-parents.  Jack did a good job trying to keep up with the songs and different hand motions.   He was very proud of himself and couldn't wait to greet us at the end of the program with a giant smile and hug!

Carroll's Pumpkin Farm

I took the kids to Carroll's Pumpkin Farm in Grinnell, Iowa today with Grandma, Aunt Steph, Kaiya and Saige.  Because of the rain earlier in the day, we had the entire place to ourselves.  The kids had fun visting all the animals, going for a tractor wagon ride, playing in the corn, and riding the trikes.  But their favorite was the giant, orange jumping pillow.  They had so much fun and all we heard were non-stop giggles!

Center Grove Orchard

The Johnson family headed north to Cambridge, Iowa to visit Center Grove Orchard.  There were so many fun things for the kids to do - they had a blast playing in the grain barn, sliding down the giant slide, riding the dirt bikes, and going for a tractor ride.  We had fun picking out the perfect pumpkin in the pumpkin patch.  Daddy was searching for the largest pumpkin he could carry, while Katy opted for the ones small enough for her to carry!  At the end of the afternoon, we stocked up on honeycrisp apples, apple cider, and apple butter.  It was a great end to a great afternoon!

Barnyard Readers - Pumpkins

Today's topic for Barnyard Readers was pumpkins.  We read several books about pumpkins and then ventured out to the 1850 farm where everyone got to pick out a pumpkin from the giant pumpkin patch.  Jack had so much fun and was really excited about his green pumpkin!  It was a little chilly that morning, but that didn't stop us from having a good time!

18 months old!

Our little Katy Mae is 18 months old!  I cannot believe how fast she is growing up.  I still call her my sweet girl, with a side of sassy!  She still loves to eat and her latest trick is climbing into her high chair when she is hungry, which is her way of telling us its time to eat!  She still eats anything and everything I put in front of her.  Her new favorite snack food is raisins - I think she eats them every day!  She also loves cottage cheese and yogurt.  Katy is still not talking much, but her favorite word is "mommy."   Everyone is "mommy" to Katy, but when she uses that word to address me, she says is with extra emphasis, as if she is trying to boss me around.  Even though she is not talking a lot, we have noticed she really likes to sing.  She loves singing the alphabet song - it is mostly in jibberish, but she still carries the tune.  Jack is her best friend these days.  She loves watching him and trying to copy everything he does.  Most of the time, this drives Jack crazy, but every once in awhile, we catch the two of them playing well together.  They love to give each other hugs and kisses - we will see how long that lasts!
