Jay and I managed to get away for a long weekend in Chicago without the kids. On Thursday and Friday, we stayed downtown with Jay's good friend and college roomate, Leo. Leo lives in a great high-rise apartment overlooking the Navy Pier, so we were happy to stay at his place! While staying downtown, we visited the Shedd aquarium, went to a Blues Traveler concert, shopped on Michigan Avenue, and ate at some great restaurants. On Saturday and Sunday, we headed out to Medinah, IL for the Ryder Cup. We had a great time at the tournament - it was such a fun environment and more like being at a football game than a golf tournament. Among the highlights were seeing Michael Phelps, both President Bush's, and we were even 5 feet away from Michael Jordan when he came up to greet someone standing right next to us. We were also within feet of Rory McIlroy when he hit an errant tee shot and we were in the crowd again for one of Keegan Bradley's shots from the rough. Unfortunately Europe pulled through on the final day and won the cup, but that did not put a damper on our fun weekend getaway!
